Star Smashers of the Galaxy Rangers by Harry Harrison
Posted by: greens - 09-10-2018, 06:26 PM - Forum: Requests - Replies (1)

This is a real shot in the dark - I am looking for the radio presentation of the Harry Harrison novel 'Star Smashers of the Galaxy Rangers' read by Kerry Shale.

Star Smashers has only ever been broadcast twice - 1986 and 1991 - on radio, and has proved impossible to find.

I contacted both Kerry Shale (performer) and Paul Mahew Archer (Producer) and neither has a copy of the production.

Thanks for reading,

Likely from R3 as per Genome:

Thursday 3 February 1977 22.05
Thursday 26 January 1978 20.15

' Sir Gilbert was the original Grandfather of the pinstripe Mafia. Even before Redcliff-Maud was dreamed of, he realised that the beauty of a three-tier local authority with split functions is that nobody has the slightest idea of who's responsible for what and the scope for jiggery-pokery is infinite. One of the minor robber barons, you might say. But a forerunner of great moguls like me - and you, if you learn to place your field carefully.
Produced and directed by ALFRED BRADLEY. BBC Manchester

Time for a mega re-upload of newly aired eps at higher bit rates. If anyone has eps. of greater bitrates than 128 kbps let me know. The Beeb have been airing eps at 320 kbps since about 2016. Does anyone have these? CJB

As Home Front comes to an end, I realised I had only caught bits of the related afternoon series "Tommies" on Radio 4 relating to the experience of the Soldiers on the Front in the first World War War.  I was hoping I would find all the episodes on here.  Looking at the Radio Four page for Tommies it does not look like all the episodes are available.

Anyone found/got the radio adaptations of Anthony Buckeridge's schoolboy hilarity? (& not just for Jeremy Clarkson's star turn!)

And/or, the Stephen Fry audiobook versions?

Looking for the three remaining parts of Marcy Kahan's Noel Coward Mystery Quintet
Posted by: cat99 - 08-17-2018, 11:35 PM - Forum: Requests - Replies (2)

I'm looking for Mary Kahan's Design For Murder, Blithe Spy, and Our Man in Jamaica. I would really appreciate it if someone could please share these play on the archive. ( Thanks to Animal we have two of the five plays,  A Bullet At Balmain's and Death At the Desert Inn, on the archive as well as Mr. Bridger's Orphan, a serious dramedy about the last major acting role that Noel Coward performed [The fan favorite caper film The Italian Job],  that brought back the actors from the quintet to play their parts again in a more serious context. Thank you, Animal!)
